News update: Get complete May 8 Griffith Park fire coverage

A brush fire erupted just about an hour ago in the Griffith Park area of LA in the Hollywood Hills.

According to the Los Angeles Times, crews of firefighters and helicopters are attacking the blaze in a desperate effort to keep the fire from engulfing the famed Hollywood sign and many multi-million dollar homes in the Hollywood Hills.

The warm weather and dry winter season does not help firefighters with such a big fire at this point, officials say.
