The tree frog, which measures 0.4 inches, was bought by a collector who handed it over to scientists for study, the Associated Press reported today. Never has an amphibian of this species been discovered in Mexico, but a number have been found in the Dominican Republic. The species is the genus Craugastor, which still inhabit the region. The preserved frog will reportedly be studied by other prominent scientists to verify its age, and if they agree with the findings, it will be one of the oldest and best preserved samples of ancient amphibian life in the world.
