A major bridge on Interstate 35W that spans the Mississippi River and connects the twin cities - Minneapolis and St. Paul - has collapsed. NBC News is reporting that seven people have died in the collapse and dozens have been injuried, some critically. The cause for the collapse is not yet known, according to Minnesota State Patrol. The bridge has apparently broken apart in three different sections leaving some people stranded and unreachable as the sun goes down in Minneapolis. Dozens of cars and trucks have been burned, crushed by slabs of concrete or submerged in the chilly, strong currents of the Mississippi River. Two of the four lanes of the bridge were closed for construction work at the time of the collapse.
